whenever I search Google...it usually points me to TrueNAS.
I have IBM M1015 cross-flashed to IT mode (LSI SAS2008). Server has got 40 HDDs via SAS card, and two expanders. Second server just 3 HDDs via IBM M1015.
I first case, it is clear that there may be an I/O bottleneck with so many drives. After all 2 ports with 8 lanes * 6Gbps = 48Gpbs for 40 drives, which should be easy for this card. Of course, you won't find what is IOPS capability of those card...each drive flat out may be 50-200 IOPS.
To make story short...while moving date among the drives (rarely more than 6 drives used for moving data), there is weird performance issues. Sometimes it works flat out with copy speed 250MBs...then something happens, and it drops to 120MBs. Well it does same crap on different server with just 3 HDDs.
Running Debian with sas2mpt driver. It makes me wonder if you guys have same/similar problems, and if anyone has any solution, please?
