That should work.

As a sidenote that is completely irrelevant to the current topic, it's interesting that they're using USB 3.0 cables for the PCI-e signals. I'd never noticed that USB 3.0 has the same number of differential pairs as PCI-e x1.

USB3 was well, odd, but it seems to work :)

No need, you just need the power cable. It'll provide +12V and +5V, the latter gets regulated on the board down to +3.3V for the PCI-e slot.
