How to upgrade all HDDs in a server

Hello everyone,

I have been using FreeNAS on my storage server for about 2-3 years and it is time to upgrade the hard disks. At the moment I've got 8x2TB disks in RAIDZ2 and I was thinking of upgrading to 6TB.

Could you please recommend me the best way to upgrade the disks without having a downtime. I need to have availability of the server and I can't really afford for it to go down.

Assuming you don't have an additional 8 free slots to attach another VDEV to the pool, the docs describe how to replace each disk and if auto expand is enabled on the pool once the last disk resilvers it will automatically increase pool size http://doc.freenas.org/9.10/storage.html#replacing-drives-to-grow-a-zfs-pool

Make sure you have a backup just in case something goes wrong.
