How to separate a mirror

I have two drives that I mirrored for testing purposes. I want to break the mirror to separate the drives and eventually wipe one. What is the process from separating the drive?

To break a mirror:
zpool detach <pool> <device>

You may need to do a scrub before.

I guess the zpool detach command should warn you if a scrub is needed (?)
