How to create plugin for MediaWiki?

MediaWiki requires a few external apps / libs that are also available on FreeBSD. Has anyone already tried to build a MediaWiki plugin so it can run directly on FreeNAS ?

Not that I know of. The plugin jail is very much like a vanilla FreeBSD (at least in terms of package tools) so if you can get it working in there the way you would on FreeBSD, a plugin is at least feasible.
