Hi All, I am new to the forum and new to FreeNas, I have it all set up and running and I think this is a great piece of software.
My question is: How do I clear the security Run output? I mean, I get this email every day, but it seems it always says the same, as I have just set everything up and I am learning, I restart the machine every now and then, and this message keeps telling me that the machine was shut down and up again, etc. so how can I "acknowledge" so my server doesn't keep "crying wolf".

FreeBSD 9.2-RELEASE-p12 #0 r262572+b043649
CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU G3258 @ 3.20GHz (3199.14-MHz K8-class CPU)
real memory = 8589934592 (8192 MB)
MB: Asrock H87M Pro4
PSU: Corsair CX430

It is usually cleared automatically after sending the email.
Do you reboot your machine daily? Then you will get emails every day.
Can you post the relevant section of the security log?

Hi Warri, thank you for the quick response.

I have restarted it at least once per day in the last couple of days... so perhaps just I'll wait couple of days and see if it goes away.

in a related issue, is there a way to add some info to the email, for example, I'd like to see the times for each line

the log looks like this:
Code:

Looks like a normal security email related to reboots. They should disappear as soon as you stop restarting the box :)

Currently there is no way to customize the security email or the daily run email (which is only sent if there is something wrong).
However, you can trigger emails yourself by means of a shell script and cronjobs. This requires some knowledge about shell scripting, though.

If you feel that customizable emails are an important feature, you can open a feature request at https://bugs.freenas.org

Thank you, I'll get more comfortable with the system before I start making suggestion on how to make it better.;)
