How can I tell from a remote machine if I have configured NFS properly?

I want to store Clonezilla images on a FreeNAS NFS share setup specifically for this task, but I haven't managed to set up the share correctly. Any suggestions as to what I need to check?

What are the settings on the NFS share and what are the errors on the client?

What are the settings on the NFS share and what are the errors on the client?

There were a number of errors on my part....First I didn't manage to connect to the share properly... The NFS share was /mnt/nas/images and I tried mounting 192.168.0.2/images as with CIFS. Eventually I mounted 192.168.0.2:/mnt/nas/images. Not sure if I named the share correctly - I'm just learning with all this stuff.

Clonezilla did mount the share but then terminated. Wasn't sure why at first but it became apparent that it was a permissions problem. I had set the owner to 'nobody', so then changed it to 'root' and then Clonezilla worked fine.

So my question is, who should I set as the owner of and NFS share if I want to write to it?

Also I'm confused about what version of NFS to use... v2, v3 or v4?

My NFS share is set up like this:

In the Dataset Permissions:
Owner: root
Group: wheel

In Sharing:
Mapall User: root
Mapall Group: wheel

I'm sure the owner and group can be whatever you want, as long as you set the Mapall User and Mapall Group to match. This is for a share that gives everyone full access.
