Hi, i would like to check with the community if the following sharing is possible.

1. A FreeNas machine with both CIFS and NFS configured and running
2. A Windows 7 Ultimate machine with NFS service installed and of course CIFS

On the FreeNas a directory said "free/share" is set to share on both NFS and CIFS

Question
Can i map on the window machine x drive to NFS and y drive to CIFS?

I know it sound stupid,

but i configure it this way so that CIFS side of the share can also be shared with other devices such as media player which don't support NFS.

While NFS side is used purely for admin and data transfer between Freenas and window (mainly because of NFS speed )

Thanks.

NFS is a terrible idea under Windows. There's no speed advantage over CIFS at all. Quite the contrary.

I agree with Eric, if using Windows anywhere on the network just use cifs shares for everything.
