How to backup data to a thumb drive

i setup a SMB(Windows shared folder),and a FTP server
so i want to know how to backup those things to a thumb drive or a external drive
The freenas software running on a baremetal computer
SPEC:
intel core i 7
24GB RAM
1*5TB HDD
4USB ports

You'd be much better off configuring a pool with some redundancy first. Then you can consider a backup strategy; a search here will come up with many suggestions. Check out the Resources section too.
