I'm new to FreeNAS.

Here's what I'm running:
FreeNAS-8.0-RELEASE-i386
FreeBSD 8.2-RELEASE-p1

I had a drive go out (it was gpt/idad5 ).:(
I pulled the drive, and replaced it.
I clicked the replace button for that drive in the GUI.
There was much activity!;)
When it was done, it still said the pool was degraded.

I did some lurking in the forums and I found the "zpool status" command. It yields the following:

pool: Vol1
state: DEGRADED
scrub: resilver completed after 0h25m with 0 errors on Mon Jul 25 16:47:06 2011
config:

NAME STATE READ WRITE CKSUM
Vol1 DEGRADED 0 0 0
raidz1 DEGRADED 0 0 0
gpt/idad1 ONLINE 0 0 0
gpt/idad2 ONLINE 0 0 0
gpt/idad3 ONLINE 0 0 0
gpt/idad4 ONLINE 0 0 0
replacing DEGRADED 0 0 0
2059572922488899938 UNAVAIL 0 0 0 was /dev/gpt/idad5/old
gpt/idad5 ONLINE 0 0 0 6.03G resilvered
gpt/idad6 ONLINE 0 0 0

errors: No known data errors

How do I recover from this?

How do I recover from this?

Go to CLI and issue "zpool detach vol1 /dev/gpt/idad5/old"

That will get rid of the old entry. After that, everything should be OK. On the next reboot the message "67.03G resilvered" will go away.

Strictly speaking according to the manual scrubbing after a resilvering is not necessary because resilvering is scrubbing in a way (i.e. scrubbing + copying). But, if you realy want to make sure, go ahead.

On a different note, I am assunig you did the "Replacment" in FN8. Please note that most of the GUI functionality related to ZFS is not trustworthy.

Thanks for the reply, globus999. Worked as you said.

On a side note:

'On a different note, I am assunig you did the "Replacment" in FN8. Please note that most of the GUI functionality related to ZFS is not trustworthy.'

Hey, open source guys! If you're going to provide GUI functionality on a product, why not make the GUI functional. :)
