I'm fairly new to Freenas and I had successfully setup my own Freenas from scratch. I want now to setup a download manager on a jail.

Kind of plugin:

There is no download manager available as FreeNas pbi so the only way to have my download manager is to create a “Port jail” and setup a freebsd plugin on it.

Which plugin:

I searched on the internet which plugin to install. At first I choose “JDownloader” but I didn’t find an easy way to install it. I found some plugin on http://www.freshports.org so I decided to install “wxDownload Fast” (wxdfast). I chose this one because I want to control my download manager with a web UI from my laptop or from work.

Step to get it working:

My question is simple, is there any help to install, configure and start a download manager? For now I just successfully setup wxDownload Fast thanks to http://doc.freenas.org/index.php/Installing_non-PBI_Software#Installing_FreeBSD_Packages_with_pkgng. But I have difficulties to get it working (I've been trying for the past two weeks but each time I get an error and I have to search on the Internet what is it caused by…).

I’m not a newbie on Linux, but I’m not a specialist and some errors are difficult to understand for me but maybe easy for you, so thanks in advance for your helps!

(PS-1: I’m French, so sorry for any English mistakes).
(PS-2: My "error of the day" is getting "Error: Unable to initialize gtk, is DISPLAY set properly?" on trying to run wxdfast. I have set up Xorg and define DISPLAY in ".cshrc" but I get "No devices to configure. Configuration failed." when I run "/usr/local/bin/Xorg -configure".)

sounds like what you are trying to run is expecting a display, so it better also have a web interface to manage it or you do some x forwarding.

I suggest you use jdownloader. I know people have used it before on freenas, and I think it's a java app that'll run.

Thanks Joshua for your answer. Yes I think it expect a display, and I was thinking it will show on the web interface linked to this jail IP address (I think I will access to my download manager from http://192.168.0.8) so I wanted to forward to this IP address (I have set up DISPLAY=192.168.0.8:0.0)

I prefer using jdownloader, but many people say that java consume too much memory so it would be better to use another one. But at first, I can try to use jdownloader, why not! Do you have links to help me setting up jdownloader?
