How can I tell when a jail stopped, why it stopped etc? (logging?)

I have a Plex jail and I rarely use it, but I can't recall if I manually stopped the jail, or rebooted the system or what - but it's stopped.

This is the second time it's occurred now, so I'm wanting to see if the jail is 'crashing' or I'm screwing something up.

What is the command, to view a jails stop reason? or last running time etc?

Well ok that's also weird, I can't even do

"iocage console plex" and drop into a shell (wtf?)
Is the plex jail currently damaged / template bad or something?

I've now logged a job with the FreeNAS folk, at least 2 of my jails are just 'dead' and can't even iocage console into them.
No idea how or why this occurred, perhaps 11.2-U3 has some weird bugs? Or perhaps I screwed them up (I did drop a chmod command into the wrong folder accidentally a week ago or so)
