I have a WD red 4TB USB harddrive, and I plugged into my FreeNAS computer

This HD has a white LED, when I safely-remove from Windows or Linux , it can spin down , and the LED start to blinking every second , it’s safe to unplugged

but I use this HD on FreeNAS , after i shutdown the FreeNAS, the HD is still running, the LED is always ON

I hope when I shutdown the system, the HD stops running , and the LED blinking to give me a safely remove signal

is there any short way to made this function?

thank you all

Once FreeNAS (or any OS for that matter) is shut down, you can by definition safely remove the USB drive. It should also have spun down by then, which you can easily check by touching the case. You will fell whether or not it is still spinning.

I’m sure it’s spinning after the computer shutdown
After I unplugged the HD, I can hear the motor noise drop and stop
