Hello everybody!
I just joined the army of freeness fans, my home server has 3x3Tb raidz, all the hdd's connected to Mobo sata 3Gbps ports, g530 celeron, 8Gb RAM
Files transferring from mac pro to the afp share on the server.

Everything is fine but I see high cpu load by ntpd while transferring files to my server

and also the transfer rate is very peaky

Is this normal for FreeNAS and ZFS?

Historically, this has been linked to boards that have needed bios updates. You might check and see if there is an update for your bios.

It seems to me that ntpd CPU hunger caused by using AFP share, when I switched to CIFS ntpd takes 0% of CPU. Everything is fine with CIFS but the transfer speed with AFP almost 2x faster than with CIFS.
