I'm a prospective freenas user buying hardware and looking forward to posting a build. So far I've got a case, PSU and motherboard and waiting for my CPU to go on sale. I'm researching memory compatibility and combing for info on how to future proof hard drive expansion.
I'm medical, not IT, but I've always built my own and done support for my family. I think this is going to be a big first step as I've not got any experience with Unix style systems. Fortunately I've got a friend who is a systems control engineer.
