I'm just starting with TrueNAS Scale. I have a box based on a Supermicro X9DBL-3f board and a LSI 3008 SAS HBA. I've got 2 1.6TB SAS SSDs, one labeled as Hitachi and the other as HGST.
I have formatted and verified both SSDs using the HBA firmware and also checked both using the HD utilities on Hiren's rescue disk. Both SSDs appear to be working just fine.
I see this on the serial console when I connect to the TrueNAS box:
[36687.895038] sd 0:0:1:0: [sdb] tag#116 Add. Sense: Grown defect list not found
[36987.893382] sd 0:0:1:0: [sdb] tag#97 Sense Key : Recovered Error [current]
[36987.901089] sd 0:0:1:0: [sdb] tag#97 Add. Sense: Grown defect list not found
[37287.902935] sd 0:0:1:0: [sdb] tag#100 Sense Key : Recovered Error [current]
[37287.910706] sd 0:0:1:0: [sdb] tag#100 Add. Sense: Grown defect list not found
[37587.907537] sd 0:0:1:0: [sdb] tag#89 Sense Key : Recovered Error [current]
[37587.915244] sd 0:0:1:0: [sdb] tag#89 Add. Sense: Grown defect list not found
The Hitachi SSD does show 315 grown defects using smartctl, but the HGST SSD doesn't show any. I'm not sure if the HGST drive doesn't have any or if something else is wrong.
Does anyone have some pointers to what this means and how to fix it?
Frank
