I've been dabbling in freenas for a while, looking for a replacement for my WHS2011 box. Picked up a Dell 690 with 2 dual core Xeon Processors and 32GB ECC RAM. Tried to add 3 3TB WD Red drives but wasn't seeing but 2GB each. Also wanted to run VM's and couldn't under 9.10.

Just downloaded 11 and I think I will try it again. I'll let everyone know how it works out!

Welcome to the forums!

I believe seeing only 2TB of your 3TB drives relates to the very old LSI 1068 HBA controller in your Dell 690. You will have to install a newer HBA capable of support >2TB drives in order to use the full capacity of your WD Red drives.
