Hey folks,

Just a humble noob here when it comes to FreeNAS and RAIDs, but a long time builder of my own PCs. My desktop is used mostly for gaming and watching movies/tv shows...(and some school work to finish up college I suppose ). I've been spending the last couple of weeks looking into RAIDs and networking so I can come up with a solution to the dwindling storage of my desktop.

I plan on putting FreeNAS on a small little system I have at the moment just to get my feet wet in its operation. Once I'm done playing around with that hopefully I'll have an idea in mind for my hardware choices.

I'll be making my home over in the hardware forum in the coming days I'm sure.

Good luck. I'm still playing with my test system while I slowly build my server to recommended specifications. I'm like you with experience (though been doing it longer, I suppose). Steep learning curve, but fun.
