BUILD Half Depth Rackmount Build (2U SM Chassis + SE3016 DAS)

I am looking to migrate from my current NAS (ReadyNAS Pro) to a FreeNAS box that will fit in my Tripp Lite 21U enclosure. This will mainly be used as my home network storage and Plex server. I have about 6U of space left and this is what I am planning to build if everything is compatible.

Rackable SE3016 - 3U 16 Bay Chassis
WD Reds 3&4 TB

Host:
SM 523L-520B - 2U Chassis with Front I/O
ASRock E3C224
Intel E3-1241v3
4x8GB ECC
M1015 Controller (SFF-8087 to SFF-8088 Adapter)
Chelsio S320E (Direct connect to ESXi box)

Just mainly want a sanity check that this hardware combination all checks out or if there's something I should be concerned with.

You mention direct connecting to an ESXi box. Are you just sharing data with your VMs, or do you plan on hosting your VMs on your FreeNAS server?

What are you planning on for your HDD configuration?
