GUI and SSH breakage

Hey all

So I was running FreeNAS for a while and I moved to TrueNAS a couple months ago. FreeNAS (pre 12.0) ran perfect. But no matter what version of TrueNAS I use, I get this same issue. When my server boots up the web GUI and SSH works fine. But give it a couple hours and neither will work. Web GUI doesn't load at all and when I SSH in it just sits there without a prompt. When this happens all my plugins are still running and the TrueNAS OS IP is pingable.

I've tried disabling all the plugins and run just TrueNAS but it still happens.

Sounds like the middleware issues I see a lot of around the place.

Are you running U5?

Are you on Ryzen hardware?

I was on U4 and it caused issues so I tried U5 and same thing. I don't have the exact specs right now but I'm running an AMD FX 6100

Deja Vu again... I just ran the update to U5 and it failed in a similar way to my attempt at U4. On my box, SSH seems to work ok, but the WEB gui won't come up after logging in. Login recognizes if the user/password is good, but it just waits after a login for the page to load. I posted some log files from the U4 failure a few months ago showingwhat appeared to be some databasey mismatches in something having to do with authentication (at least the log files implied that.) I don't see these issues in the U5 but the net results are the same. All non-web functionality seem to be fine - replications start (both in and out) and cloud syncing is happening. Just no UI.

FWIW, I am trying to make a jump from U2.1 - I dragged my feed during the other point releases figuring it didn't matter. I'm wondering if some update occurred during (say) U2.2 or U2.3 that needed to be done that's *not* happening now and some database files are not getting converted...

My hardware is a stock (few year old) XL-MINI with 36TB installed plus cache drives. No weird plugins or extensions involved. It serves (locally) NFS and rsync and is a replication server for my other NASes. My main virtual machine storage is on a similar vintage MINI (also stock) but I've not tried updating it due to this issue and it's stuck at U2.

I'd really like to get this fixed as I want the new ZFS among other goodies. I suppose I could just to a hard install and reload the configuration, but that's more work than I have time for right now. I've pinned it back to booting U2.1 and hopefully someone with better knowledge of the issue can point me to something I can fix. Thanks.

Do you think if I just started with a brand new install and a blank pool it would work? At this point I might just switch to rockstor or make my own setup
