A week ago today, I didn't feel well and stayed home from work (unusual).

Saturday, I woke up to find the lower portion of my right leg, burning red. I have no idea how I got it, it showed up out of nowhere. I ended up in the hospital with a severe case of cellulitis that extended from just below the knee down to my ankle.

After 6 days in the hospital (without my phone), I was finally released last night. The redness is still there, though not as intense. I'm on an oral antibiodic.

Since I'm confined to my bed, with my leg elevated, I can't use my desktop computer. When I feel better, I'll resume my forum activity.

Wow, sucky! That happened to my wife awhile back, though in her case she's a hospital nurse and they get exposed to all sorts of crap. Best wishes, and enjoy some time off from the crazy forums too

Thanks everyone.

I don't envy jgreco's wife, working as a nurse in the hospital. I tend to think I was a model patient.

About 18 hours before I was discharged, I got a new neighbor in the next room over. He was a real whiner and probably thought he deserved a private nurse. Our nurse had 5 patients. She dreaded going to work today, since there was a good chance she'd be stuck with him again.

Yeah, it's funny, it seems like nurses either love or dread getting the same patients on their next shift. In some cases they're able to provide some input as to the patients they want. Most of the time they prefer to get a patient that's already familiar to them, which is good for the patient because it means you've got someone who is already familiar with your conditions and peculiarities. But if you're a really miserable patient, I suspect you're far less likely to be "asked for."

Still down for the count. Mostly lurking on the forum for my entertainment.

I'm still taking oral antibiotics and the leg is looking better. But the pain can be severe, making it difficult to do anything else, but lay down. Over-the-counter Tylenol, just doesn't cut it.
