USA is in much better situation - supply of used Supermicro servers is bigger and prices are lower than in European Union. UnixSurplus comes to mind.

Anybody willing to share good sources for used servers (Supermicro of others that can run FreeNAS easily) in EU? If they sell self refurbished / serviced / checked servers rather than one off lottery on Ebay, that would be plus in my mind.

When I was searching for used servers, it looked that https://www.bargainhardware.co.uk/ (available on Ebay too) could be company where I could buy used server for experiments. Although not sure how things will be going after Brexit, probably some customs paperworks. I guess I will wait with UK until dust will settle.

Any suggested sources in mainland EU?

Potential sources (I haven't evaluated them fully yet, any feedback welcome):

I had some smooth and satisfying transactions for Cisco gear with Tonitrus.

They don't offer Supermicro, but possibly Fujitsu, Dell or Lenovo will fit your requirements. I used to heavily endorse Fujitsu because I like their overall quality, power efficiency and their IPMI implementation, but they share that particular wart with all the other brand name vendors: "sorry, HDD and SSD trays only complete with our own approved disks at 5x the market price." That's why we switched to Supermicro - and AMD for Intel for most of our servers. Quality-wise I still think Fujitsu rocks. If you can get a refurbished system that fits your specs - go for it.
