Gmail SMTP won't authenticate in v12

I can't get v12 to authenticate to send alerts by email using gmail. It's not triggering any security block at the server end, the message returned is that the name and PW dont work. But they're the identical ones I log in with every day, and the identical ones used in 11.3

Has anyone else got this to work in 12 beta2, or can test it?

What do you have in your various fields? I mean, its SMTP, on the same network as I use POP/SMTP Outlook on a laptop, and IMAP/SMTP AquaMail on a phone, and browser based on everything... what can go wrong? Yet Im getting errors.
