Hi,

Right now I am trying to establish a ftp nas service. currently I am having trouble getting the File Zilla client to connect to the my nas. My user name seems to checkout fine, but for some reason I'm getting an error (530 Login incorrect), then follows (Critical error, and then could not connect to server). Unclear as to why I'm seeing this, does anyone have ideas for me to try?

Thanks,

So I checked off "allow anonymous users" in the ftp service. I then went back and attempted to login without a username nor password and was able to connect. So, what would create the issue of not allowing login users?

Do you have a home directory for the username, that you can't login with? IIRC the default is /nonexistent.

When I login via FTP with FZ, my root directory is the home directory I defined for my user account.

I did some digging on the PDF information and figured I would check the proftpd when I turn off and then back on the FTP service. I noticed that it doesn't start up and goes to "standalone mode startup" and then says "executing: sleep 1" and then "Executing: /bin/pgrep -F /var/run/proftpd. pid proftpd".... how do I correct this and would this be the cause to the inabillity to login but still login under anonymous.

Under anonymous I am unable to create directories but I do see the the index on the ftp://address site.

Thanks for any help, I am new at this and trying to learn as I go.

In my FreeNAS setup, under Account/User, I have a user account for "bill".

One of the properties is "Home Directory", mine points to: /mnt/vol1/home/bill (a NAS directory). When I connect using FZ, using my FreeNAS username/password, this is directory I see.

I have my home directory set to my hard drive path. What do you define as your user account?
