Hi,

I have FreeNAS-11.3-U2 and recently it has stopped remembering a password on a user account. I use the user to authenticate and access network shares. In order to get access to the network share I have to re enter the password through the FreeNAS web interface.

Why does it not save the password?

I'm running FreeNAS on a two USB sticks, recently one of the sticks became corrupted but it just had jails on it. The operating system doesn't feel very solid.

FreeNAS doesn't control that... it's your browser settings.

SSD is recommended for good boot drive stability.

If you have corrupted files, it is not surprising that you have stability issues.

Consider replacing the drives and doing a fresh install (backup your config first and restore after the fresh install to make the process easier).

it must be the USB, I will go with an m.2 ssd drive, they are pretty cheap now.

Backing up the config is straightforward, Can I put the jails and operating system on the same m.2 ssd ?

The jails live on your data zpool. The jail config lives on the boot zpool, as does the OS.

Depending on your use-case, it can be done (although neither recommended nor supported)

See here if you think it's for you:

the motherboard only takes the 1 m.2 drive. I ordered a 120gb but it is a bit of a waste of space not being able to use it for pools as well. Looking forward the the fresh install
