Since the last update, I have been having the problem that my server restarts at night, and tries to boot from the storage drive. I then have to reboot and change boot order. It seems to work fine all day, but at 03:00 ish, it shuts off. This have started happending after the latest update.

The latest information I have gotten is this:

freenas.local kernel log messages:

Does that give any clue as to what is wrong?

The time does, as that is when the system scripts run and put it under load. What are the system specs and FN version?

I am running a asrock-c2750d4i, 6x2TB raidz2, 16 GB ram. Version 9.3-STABLE updated to latest release. UPS connected by USB. Currently I have the Plex and Transmission plugins installed and running. I have replaced the USB boot drive after getting a "starting scrub of pool 'freenas-boot'" message, thinking there might be issues with the boot drive.

Only an error in the scrub would indicate a problem. The fact that the scrub occurs just means it was following a schedule. You have regular scrubs scheduled on your storage pool, right? You don't replace that each time a scrub occurs.

Yes, I do. Just using the default values on scrub on my pool. I doubt there was anything wrong with the boot-drive really.

Weird thing, after replacing the boot drive, things seem to boot correctly. Had the same reboot today with this message: (I had sabnzbd and sickbeard installed previously, removed them now as I no longer had any use for them)

freenas.local changes in mounted filesystems:

< pool/jails/sickbeard_1 /mnt/pool/jails/sickbeard_1 zfs rw,nfsv4acls 0 0

You can expect a 'security run output' email every time your FreeNAS reboots. In this case it's telling you what you already know, that the sabnzbd and sickbeard datasets are no longer mounted. I believe the output is sent in the form of a diff from the previous version of the same log, where a < means 'removed' and a > means 'added'. In other words, it's telling you what's changed instead of swamping you with the entire log.

I see nothing here that gives me any clue to what's causing your reboots. However, if you post more details (see this), maybe someone will be able to shed some light.

We're talking about the boot logs, so rebooting would create a new log. You can use the dmesg command to view the most recent log. This command is mentioned in the forum rules that I linked to earlier, so please review those, along with the documentation, especially this section. Right now you've provided almost no information about your system, so anyone who might actually be able to help you (unlikely to be me) is going to glance at this thread and move right along.

I will try to extract all the information I can. I am quite new to this, so any help and guidance is greatly appreciated. So thank you for taking the time to answer.

General information about my system:
Running NF 9.3-STABLE, latest update. Could it be my powersupply is not able to handle the load of the systemscripts running?

I was able to reproduce the issue tonight. Got the same "security run output" message at 03.01 as before. However, since replacing the boot drive it now correctly reboots and no longer targets a storage-drive when booting.

It acted kind of weird when I got up and tested it today though. When I went to check if it was running, at first I was not able to connect, but a few seconds after, I connected. When I went to check uptime, it said 1 min. As if it had booted just when I started testing. It takes way longer then that to boot though. This seemed odd to me. Is there any sleep mode or something similar that I may have overlooked?

dmesg output after latest reboot:

I have done some more searching, and in the ipmi I am seeing some overheating events. The timestamps of these events do not seem to correlate with the time when I have experience reboots. The asrock board may not have time correctly set though.

Even without proper timings, that looks like pretty conclusive evidence that over-heating is causing your reboots. Or at least some of them!

Yeah, seems very likely. It may be placed in a non-ideal place to stay cool atm. Will report back after trying to cool it down abit.

Running NF 9.3-STABLE, latest update. Could it be my powersupply is not able to handle the load of the systemscripts running?
I was going to guess this as a possibility, even though there's nothing obviously inadequate about your PSU, it's just one of those things that often comes up when systems are behaving erratically. Do you have a way to test with a different one?

However, heaviest load is often during pool scrubs, so the correlation seems a bit off. I don't know what kind of load the 3am scripts impose (you could look at the Reporting logs) but I doubt it's that as heavy as a scrub.

After moving the system to a better ventilated area, things seem to have improved alot. Running now with 3 days uptime. If things start acting up again I will try with another PSU, thanks for the suggestion Robert.

This should probably not have been posted in the bug reporting forum either, thanks for helping me out anyways :)

Glad to know it's more stable now.

Maybe a mod can move the thread to a different topic.

I'm gonna make a suggestion, add a fan to the CPU heatsink i believe other users here have done that to curve issues with overheating, also how much airflow do you have through your case?
