FreeNAS FEC (Etherchannels)

Hello, I am looking at setting up LACP on freeNAS eventually, my switch doesn't support LACP but has the etherchannels. I see that FreeNAS supports FEC. How does it compare to LACP in freeNAS.

It is implemented by the same module, so question is mostly about capabilities of those protocols. On the other side I see that FEC support was removed in recent FreeBSD versions with such comment: "The FreeBSD is the only system that has the FEC protocol, that is a simple alias to loadbalance protocol and does not implement the ancient Cisco FEC standard".
