We recently transferred our freenas into a new 24bay chassis for increased storage capabilities. The new chassis has an upgraded MOBO with IPMI capabilities. We followed the ipmi setup guide but have run into the issue in subject. Screen shot included along with debug log.

Any suggestions as to the cause and solutions for this will be appreciated.

HID is Human Interface Device. In this case, it looks like it might be a keyboard/mouse combination. Some hybrid HID devices might not work directly. For that matter, it's not clear whether these messages even indicate a problem. Which IPMI setup guide is being followed, and which step in that guide is a problem, and what happens or doesn't happen?

The problem seems to occur due to Supermicros IPMI. In the old chassis we didnt have this issue since IPMI didnt work but now that we have a newer system this happens quite frequently which makes performing any CLI tasks a bit trying since its easy to lose track of what we are doing when it scrolls that message.

The guide we followed was the one obtained through freenas.org.

It seems to occur when the freenas is unable to connect to IPMI either through lose of login or when we login directly to the IPMI webgui. Though I am not 100% sure if that actually is the case.

We have no other keyboard or mouse connected to the unit. Which makes this most likely an issue with the virtual keyboard and mouse used in the IPMI BMC.

This is very strange sir. We literally have---and I do mean literally---over 100000 users using Supermicro boards for their FreeNAS, accessing IPMI and utilizing the virtual keyboard. And I have never heard of this in my life, and I can assure you, they'd be all over the forum if this were a general problem.

A HA!

This looks like it's the same thing at a quick glance? https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?threads/ums-or-ukbd-issue.61151/

The one thing that I just noticed is that both motherboard types are x9 boards and the problem seems to be prevalent on this series. We did a freenas reboot and on finish I performed the IPMI and iKVM reboot. The issue is still occurring which leads me to believe there is an issue with the x9 boards on freenas v11
