FreeNAS and Clonezilla

I want to back up some disk images to FreeNAS using Clonezilla. The question is should I create a CIFS or NFS share to hold the images?

Your Clonezilla data images are going to be some collection of archived files. You can store those like you would any other file. Are we misunderstanding something?

I prefer to just use ssh / sftp to perform the transfer.
