FreeNAS 8.2 Newbie

Hi All,

I am a FreeNAS newbie.

I have installed FreeNAS 8.2 in Dell Optiplex 330 PC successfully but i cannot see HDD in web GUI (see the attached) picture. I think I may miss some setting but not sure.

Do you have any idea?

Here's your possibilities that I can think of:

1. Hard drive doesn't have power, or otherwise isn't plugged into the motherboard.
2. The hard drive controller on the motherboard(assuming you are using the built-in controller) is not compatible with FreeNAS.
3. Hardware failure of the hard drive itself.
4. Data cable for the hard drive failed.

what happens if you open a shell and type:

camcontrol devlist

It is SATA. I think it should be compatible with FreeNAS.

I googled your computer. It has an ICH7R chip. Are the hard drives in a RAID or is the controller already configured for RAID mode? If so you should change it to IDE, AHCI, or whatever the non-RAID mode is and try that.

In shell mode, I can see my harddisk
