Hello,

I'm trying to install FreeNAS on HPE Synergy 480 Gen10 server however the installer detects only MMC Card which is used for iLO repository.
I have tried several methods including clearing RAID configuration, creating RAID 0 or RAID 1 with two SAS disks 300GB each one. None of those three methods worked for me. Only SD/MMC is detected.

Those disks are attached to HPE Smart Array P204i-c SR GEN10 controller and I assume that is not supported ( at least out of the box ).

Does someone know if this is supported by BSD. Or may be I'm not doing the thinks properly. Any advice will be most welcomed.

Many thanks in advance.

As explained in the linked article, some marketingdroid's opinion that "RAID controller with no RAID config" == HBA isn't really relevant.

Regardless, you really want a controller that is well-supported, and that works out to be an LSI controller with the IT firmware flashed onto it. For ten years that has been the go-to choice.

You may try TrueNAS Scale. It is FreeNAS but based-on a Linux kernel.
It may be a good alternative when your hardware is not supported by FreeBSD.
