Hello,

I am trying to figure what process(es) is (are) accessig my HDD every 5 minutes.
Is there a way to detect what is doing it?
I have added a SSD (formated in ZFS) as a second pool and put the system pool in it.
I was expecting the HDD to sleep automatically but it doesn't work.
I have disabled the CIFS and my jails but it still doesn't work (no sleep). Can you please tell me what I can to?

Thank you
Marc

Hello,

It is the version FreeNAS-9.2.1.6-BETA-d78e1f0-x64 (from 7 June).

The last version (FreeNAS-9.2.1.6-BETA-2c5ce6b-x64) still has the problem : no HDD can sleep

You mean you want the disks to spin down and then spin up on access?

Hello,

Yes, I have a Raid z2 (4+2) WD Red.
The idea is to put everything that requires constant write to the SSD so the HDD can spin down when required (generally the HDD are used in the morning and in the afternoon so they could sleep 15-16 H a day.

IIRC, there's an option for that, but behavior is somewhat different from ideal.

It's typically also not recommended because of additional wear and tear on the drives, so yours is not a typical question.

Hello,

My smart is set to 1440 and I have chosen level 1 minimum power with standby. The standby is set to 10 minutes.
There is also a smart test every day at 8 am (short test)
