file already exists error on network copy

I have a freenas server connected via NFS to window10 and ubuntu20 machines. When I try to copy or move a file from win10 to freenas it gives me a file already exists message. When I check the freenas directory I see a file with the same name but size is 0k- it was not there before the copy attempt. If I select overwrite on copy it fails giving me a 0x8007002 error saying another process has locked a part of the file. This is not happening when I do the same from the Ubuntu machine. Any help appreciated.
