Hello guys,

I'm in dire need of your help.

TL;DR: see thread topic.

My background:
I'm an IT guy without much experience in FreeBSD (can hack up a router or proxy, but not much more).

My setup:
MB: Supermicro X11SSV-Q
CPU: Intel i5-6600
RAM: 2x Corsair SO-DIMM DDR4 16Gb 2133 MHz pc-17000 (CMSO16GX4M1A2133C15)
System drive: 2x Silicon Power Touch T01 32Gb USB 2.0
HBA: Raid Dell H200 (LSI Logic 9211-8i, flashed to IT mode)
Storage: 6x Western Digital Red 2 Тб WD20EFRX SATA
ZLOG Storage: Transcend MTS 400 32Gb M.2 SATA III

My problem:

What I tried and it didn't help:
  1. Installation in BIOS/UEFI modes
  2. Installation on SSD instead of thumbdrives
  3. Installation on one/both thumbdrives
  4. Overnight memory testing with Memtest86

We've seen a few, but I can't find a bug ticket for these panics on boot. You might want to file one.

I looked a bit into bugtracker. Found some similar(ly described) issues, but almost all of them are old, non-reproduced and not fixed. Or about preset 0x0 MAC address which is BS no matter how you look at it :).

Anyway, tried some more things (which didn't help):
  1. Booting on single thumbdrive
  2. Booting with single RAM module
  3. Removed (infamous) DELL Raid (which, surprisingly, didn't affect my RAM detection like described HERE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0nJV0jelkg&list=WL&index=10)

After that I booted in single user. It worked, but I'm at a loss what to do next. Any ideas?

File the bug report and the devs might be able to help.

So, the perpetrator is on-board SATA controller (Transcend MTS 400 32Gb M.2 SSD attached through it) which somehow leads to crash in 11.1.
Surprisingly, 11.0-U4 installs and runs OK. 11.1 with disabled SATA as well.

I have no idea what to do with this knowledge now so temporary will fall back to 11.0-U4 and will think something up later on.

Is it a Marvell controller or are you talking about the Intel PCH?
