can someone tell the exact process to restore my usb key and my zfs pool.

1 reinstall freenas same version as the backup config file I made from the key?!
2. reupload my config file to the newly reinstalled key??

Questions
does the backed up config file config have all my zfs pool info for the nas device?
if just the usb key died my disks are fine will it bring the zfs pool bak?
Does the backed up config file have all the changes saved in it as far as the bootloader.cfg I made my mem changes in or do I need to redo all the boot config changes? Any help is much appreciated THANKS KAI

If you haven't changed the disks, and they still work, you should be able to do a new install of FreeNAS on a USB stick, and choose auto-import for ZFS and it should find your pool.

This depends on the version you are using. Prior to 8.0.3, changes you made to boot/loader.conf were not saved and you needed to manually backup the file. Now, with version 8.0.3, if you enter those settings from the GUI, they will be saved when you backup/save your config from the settings screen in the GUI.

Usually just restoring your settings and rebooting is enough to make your pool visible again, however in some cases the GUI/database gets out of sync and you may need to "reset to factory settings" and do an "Auto Import". It's also possible, if you know how, to clear the out-of-sync disk settings from the database from the command line and then do an "Auto Import".
