after reading the ram part of the manuel and following this link :http://hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1036865233&postcount=3

i'm more confused then helped:

So if you have 6x2TB, and are using them in a single RAID-Z2 vdev, then your zpool is 12TB total (minus 4GB for parity data, leaivng 8GB usable), meaning it would be ideal to have at least 12 TB of RAM for the ARC

so with an zpool of 12 tb u can use 8gb and u need at least a super computer with 12 tb ram ?

That was a typo, the recommended amount of RAM is 12GB. Although I think you would be just fine with 8GB for a home user and not many concurrent reads/writes. YMMV

because it's still a typo i'm making a "bug" report here i have some commonsense to see that can't be right don't worry.

but it is still wrong and this can't be changed shen no one who reads this report this.

it's not from the freenas forum but the link is still in the Manuel.

Are you drunk or something? The link is not freenas documentation.

PS: Its called MANUAL, not MANUEL

http://www.freenas.org/images/resou...s8.3_guide.html#__RefHeading__7608_1957652121

this is the manual right?

go to 1.4.2 RAM

read it

the last part is this:This post describes how RAM is used by ZFS.

the "post" is a link. that link goes to this post : http://hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1036865233&postcount=3

i know that this post is not from the freenas forum and u guys can't change the contain of the post but this link to this post is in the manual and that can be changed.

if u think is totally ok to let it in or think people are drunken to note this i'm out no problem...

The freenas manual explicitly says 1tb / 1gb ram, the post is linked as an explanation for the ram usage, thats it.

It is not a "bug"

witch part of this forum is right them?
ofc the manual it self is right but the link is wrong i don't see a problem to point that out i'm sure a lot of people are confused by it.

my report is like: "there is a broken link in the manual"
not that serious ok but changing that is a way to improve the manual or not?

The manual is a wiki: doc.freenas.org , feel free to change it if you feel its a important matter.
