Hi!

I'm new too freenas but the idea of converting an old system to an NAS caught my eye.
The system I'm trying to install to is following:

Gigabyte GA-E350N-USB3
8GB Kingston DDR3 1600MHz
2x WD 3Tb Green
8Gb Kingston USB-drive
USB-connected DVD-ROM reader with FreeNAS 9.3 burnt onto a disc.

It boots up fine into the installation and i get to choose where to install FreeNAS and set the password.
Pretty soon after I start the installation i get the error 5.

I have searched for anyone else with the problem and I don't find any information about.

Can somebody please help me?

AMD processors don't play nice with Freenas. Also the use of non-ECC memory is not recommended.
If you are interested, here is a link to a good read about hardware that will be a great help to you.
Why you are receiving this error, is most likely a hardware issue, so if you are able to learn a bit
about the required minimum recommendations, it will go a long way to helping you get started.

As BigDave said, ECC RAM is strongly recommended.

If you don't need all the bells and whistles that 9.3 offers (and might never work on your old hardware), you might try installing 8.3.2 or possibly 9.2.1.9. You can find them here: http://download.freenas.org/ and the old documentation here: http://doc.freenas.org/

Honestly, with all of the unpatched security vulnerabilities in everything pre 9.2.1.7 (along with zfs bugs and such), if you can't handle 9.3 on your hardware right now, you should look at either new hardware or a different OS. Using something that is already outdated is pretty silly.
