Email Setup?

Hey,

Just wondering if someone could explain how to setup the email side of things on freenas. Can you link your gmail account to it or is it your totally own email account.

Hi.. I'm new to FreeNAS. Currently setting my first FreeNAS up..

I setup my Gmail account using the following Settings:

From Email: ***@gmail.com
Outgoing mail server: smtp.gmail.com
Port to connect to: 465
TLS/SSL SSL
Use SMTP Authentication: Ticked (Yes)
Username: Your full email address (****@gmail.com)
password: Your Password

Click Save.. For the test email to work, remember to set an email address on the root account, under accounts, click users, view all users, find 'root' then click modify user, and add an email address.. You can then go back to the email settings and send a test mail..

Just keep in mind that even though the test message may work, there's still a new bug with email in 8.01 Release that is preventing errors/status emails from being sent. There is discussion about it in the 8.01 Release announcement thread with a workaround, but it didn't work for me because I still didn't the daily reports last night.
