Hello,

My english is not good and maybe is already answered but i need to know easy thing.

If i install Freenas on a PC, build a ZFS pool, with 1 vdev... I know I only can add new vdev no increase size of it.

If I change my motherboards,... but keep the HDDS. If I plug old HDDS (with pool ZFS) on new system... will Freenas recognize it and data is not lost?

I have to save config before migration and install Freenas, load config from old PC and plug the HDD??

No need full explanation, just know if is possible. If possible will investigate more.

Thanks

It is completely possible, and designed that way. In fact, if your computer blows up and the only good parts are the hard drive and your boot drive(or you have a backup of your config) all you have to do is plug the new drives into the new computer, bootup FreeNAS and recover from config file if your boot drive was bad.

Total repair time = 10 minutes(minus time to build the new machine).
