Don't see drive status LED after connecting it HP H220 HBA

We have the same "issue" with our build on HPE DL380 G9.
We also used the OEM H220 card and flashed it, all works great, all 8 SATA HPE Enterprise SSDs are visible and usable including SMART status, just the LEDs don't work anymore... what a pity.
It is actually detected and visible in HP iLO 4, it just needs AMS installed on the host to display also the drives.
Not sure how/if we can fix this without using the HP firmware :( I actually did not change the BIOS of the card, it's the original one afaik.
