Is your hardware compatible with FreeBSD? My first guess is "no". Might want to lookup your hardware and see if it lists FreeBSD as being compatible.

You can also do the common stuff... try another USB stick, check for BIOS updates, disable any hardware you don't need... etc.

I ran into the same problem when installing to an R710. With the USB stick still attached, go back into the BIOS and change the settings for how the USB key is treated. It can be hard drive, CDROM, or Auto, and it's probably auto. Specify hard drive and see if that helps.

(I eventually got it to work but it took me a couple of hours to get around this hurdle. I think that's the setting I used, but if you're like me you'll be rebooting a few times to get it to work...)

Thanks I have tried this option too but on the T320 no option for the USB key...

I'm gonna try to put an small HD instead to see if that help but i think that's the H310 that is not supported.

I'll post when the test gonna be done.

Good luck with the RAID card. I replaced a PERC raid card in the R710 with a SAS/6i card with no problem. I then tried the same thing with a 2970 and the BIOS freaked out that I was using an unsigned card and issued a STOP. Couldn't get it to boot without the original RAID card in the chassis.

I like Dell hardware as a general rule, but it's not all that flexible.

Just wanted to add; i had issues with the H310 in IT mode with the Dell Firmware (including currently latest A10) (on a non Dell system though) and have flashed them to LSI P17 and the errors are gone; so you might want to check that.

That sounds about right. Some DELL BIOSs have trouble with USB flash. The general fix is to ensure the BIOS is updated to the latest version and the USB stick is treated as a "HDD" not "AUTO" in the BIOS. I have several 310s and 410s and they work fine booting from Kingston USB sticks.
