Dell PE 2950 X5460

Hello everyone, I am new here and I am trying to setup a test lab at home. I have a Dell PE 2950 X5460 and I am trying to do an all-in-one with VMware. My question is how do I or can the Dell be set to "passthrough"? When I try to set it up in vSphere it says "host does not support passthrough configuration". Is this true or is there something in the BIOS that needs to be set or what? Thanks for the help.

That processor doesn't support VT-D. You'll need something newer...

ok thanks, is there a way to just change out the processor on this particular board that would work?

It requires processor, chipset, and BIOS support. So no, not really.

The PE2950 is very old is computer world... very power-hungry as well. I would expect to have all sorts of issues trying to run new, "advanced" stuff on it.
