Data "normalization" after ZPOOL expansion?

Hello guys,

I was wondering if FreeNAS (and ZFS subsequently) would spread the ZPOOL data within the VDEVs added to the pool.

If not there's a workaround for this problem? Moving the data for example?

Only the new data is spread, if you want to spread the old data you need to rewrite it.

Just copy it and delete the old copy, or move it to another place and then back where it was. But AFAIK it's not a big deal, you can leave the pool as it is, unless you need some really high performances of course.

In practice, don't bother. ZFS is smart enough for this not to be much of an issue.
