i dont have that big of a system but i built it due to umedia and kids photos /videos

i rip all my movies to my hdds as i am too darn lazy to walk down stairs to get them, bow i can just point and click.-- i went with freenas because i like the redundancy and corruption avoidance - with our first kid on the way i want to be able to save all the moments and not worry about them, -- with that said i WILL have several backups >;o

Roughly 8TB usable. I think I currently am using 4.3TB. Most of it is video. Lots of 1080p bluray rips (anywhere from 5-15GB a piece depending on film) and copies of tv shows (all in HD). Other than that there are some random videos and my music library which is around 60-80GB. I have yet to move my backups over from various externals so that will likely account for another 1TB as I have 3 smaller systems to back up. Will most likely replace my drives with 4TB HDDs one at a time. But I'm poor at the moment so will likely be pushing my storage close to capacity by the time I purchase another 6 drives.

I use three 2 TB in a Z-Array for backup of four computers and another 2TB drive for an FTP Server. None of them are anywhere near full but I have found that I always underestimate future disk requirements. I want to add on streaming so that will take a bit of disk space.
