Corrupt ZFS Pool?

Problem: Like an idiot tried to re-situate hardware and killed my UPS (at least I had one) causing a power failure and now ZFS pool won't mount

Things I'll admit to right off the bat:
  1. Using 2 USB external HDDs for Raid 1 (I know I should be drug out in the street and shot)
  2. Was ignorant to the need for ZFS snapshots so there are no backups at all to restore too (again, deserve to pull back my fingernails)
Things I've already tried:
  • Used a commercial software program (won't mention here) to try and restore data but mostly just showed garbage (as expected)
  • From the shell ran the below commands [each one immediately cause the screen to scroll rapidly with a bunch of text going by so fast you can't even read it following by causing the whole computer to reboot every time):
    • zpool import -F Raid500
    • zpool import -nfF Raid500
    • zpool import Raid500
  • Tried older and newer version of FreeNas OS installs
  • Tried from GUI and Shell
Output of "zpool import" (appears to be good but not really):
pool: Raid500
id: XXXX.....XXX
state: online
action: the pool can be imported using it's name or numeric identifier
config:
Raid500
mirror-0 ONLINE
gptid/XXX-......XXX ONLINE
gptid/XXX-......XXX ONLINE
Hardware:
  • Pentium 4 (old Dell workstation) with 3.4 GB RAM (I know ZFS suggests 8GB RAM however I only use a mere 500GB of storage)
Question:
So am I totally done or is there any other last ditch effort I could try or a script to run or anything?
(I will run or attach any log files or reply with any actions requested)
Thank you for your time and look forward to any input!

I would believe its corrupt.. You tried the force command? That is probably not advised when you need to recover or only as last ditch effort.. You are below specs.. If you have spare time - see if you can fix it but the odds are most likely stacked against you.. With the external USBs probably askign for trouble.. I'm not even sure if you could remove the drives and hook them up internally to test..

Maybe try a clean USB install and see?

No.. wrongo-bongo.

That 8GB of RAM is for a pool of any size.. 1GB or 10000TB. Performance will be borderline unusable with 10000TB, but it won't kill your pool.

Your "last ditch" effort is to either contract out to me for data recovery or consider the data lost. I'm already doing someone else's recovery so I wouldn't be able to look at your server until tomorrow. But, considering you broke the 8GB rule, I wouldn't even recommend you pay me unless you're ready to jump off a nearby bridge without your data. Because statistically, people that break the 8GB rule and have a non-mounting pool have about 110% chance of never seeing their data again. Why do you think I put those stern warnings in there? I'm tired of people ignoring them.. but they still do. And they use absurd excuses like "my pool is too small to matter" or "eh, I don't care about performance". The 8GB isn't for either of those. It's for stability and stability only.

But hey, I'll definitely take your money if you want to throw it at me. My landlord does like getting paid. ;)
