Copying permissions

Hi!

I have a big structure of folders/subfolders without files but with permissions (group/users) stored on a NTFS/Windows machine. Each time I start a new project I copy the structure with it's permissions and start populating the tree with files.
I'm planning on moving the complete set of data including this empty structure to a NAS but it's extremely important that I can do this copying WITH permissions. Is this feasible/easy enough on current FreeNAS version?

Did you try to copy anything as a test?

Just create the CIFS share, choose windows permission for the dataset, then either drag/drop the files or use something like robocopy.

Hello, I'm planning to develop a freenas server using the specs set out in the forum. I plan using a zfs environment and provide cifs share with generic access (again as mentioned in the general set up)

Will I be able to copy files from the freenas server to a windows machine, performs MACD on the file and then update the file on Freenas?
