Console errors while running headless?

It looks like this was discussed a couple of years ago (back in FreeNas forums), but it looked like there were a whole lot of fixes that didn't quite work....

I initially installed TrueNas 12.0-U7 with a monitor, but once I put it on its shelf headless, I keep getting my console spammed by:
Error opening file for writing; filename='/dev/console', error='Device not configured (6)'

I've seen solutions that involve monkeying with serial ports and directing /dev/console to /dev/null among others. Is there any clean way to fix this? I like seeing the console messages on my Dashboard, but this spam makes its pretty useless.

Or is the right answer getting one of these (HDMI dummy plug)?
