Hi Everyone,

I have a TRUENAS-MINI-3.0-E, running version TrueNAS-12.0-U5. I'm trying to set up basic network settings, but I'm having trouble adding a second gateway for my second management network port. For ix0, I have DHCP enabled. This allows me to manage the unit with no trouble and navigate to the web management site, which has been automatically set to 192.168.1.140. The default gateway also was automatically and correctly set to 192.168.1.1 through DHCP.

I want to add another IP, on a different subnet, with a corresponding gateway. I set ixO to 192.168.5.30. However, I'm not sure how to specify that this port should use 192.168.5.1 as a gateway.

(Apologies if I missed an existing thread on this topic, but I haven't found anything super helpful yet.)

The key thing here is default route is a system level parameter, NOT an interface level parameter. Yes, it appears on the interface configuration page, but the IP routing table is a system level thing. You can't have 2 default gateways.

Thank you. How do I specify how that the interface connected to my 192.168.5.x subnet needs to go through 192.168.5.1? Is this the Static Routes config?

If you have a directly connected interface on that network, that route will be installed in the routing table automatically.
