Does anyone know why I am only getting ~2mb/s transfer rate on my FreeNas (9.2) since upgrading to Mavericks?

I've had a search but can't seem to find an answer to this, except something to do Mavericks supporting SMB2.

I've just checked on my other Mac running Lion and the transfer rate is ~60mb/s as usual.

Yes, it is a compatibility issue, as Mavericks uses SMB2, which is supposed to be backwards compatible with SMB, but obviously no very well, hence the 2mb/s. You need to go to "Connect to server..." from the Finder menu. Type in "CIFS://volumename

This forces OSX to use SMB. Getting broadly the same read write speeds as my other Mac running Lion
