I created a user to handle the shares on the NAS since it is a repository for the backups onsite. When I try to navigate to them or map/authenticate to them I am not able to do anything but use the root account. In the storage section I have made the user and group made with the user the owner. I was able to do it this way at another location but am having issues with it on this unit. They are both running 9.3 Stable. Any ideas what to do since I don't want to leave the root account as the account for backup authentication.

Reboot the windows box. I suspect you have cached credentials and auth isn't what you think it is.

Also, check Windows' Credentials Manager. Windows key + search is your friend in finding it (I have no idea where to find it manually).

Having the same issue as described previously. I have rebooted the Windows machine and cleared the Credential Manager. Any other ideas on what I should do to remedy this?

In the webgui, reset the password for the user with which you are trying to authenticate to the samba server.
